The Starling Atlanta Midtown

The Starling Atlanta Midtown, Curio Collection by Hilton

The Vibe: A recent full renovation has brought an eclectic, soulful personality to this 1970s built hotel.

The Area: The Starling boasts a premier location in the heart of Midtown, the region’s defining district central to the city’s robust dining scene (including Politan Row, the chef-driven food hall featuring a mix of local food and beverage concepts located next door in Atlanta’s Colony Square), arts institutions, cultural landscape and the landmark Piedmont Park.

The DNA: A recent renovation of the former W Hotel Atlanta Midtown reimagined the property around a fictional character named Arthur, an Atlanta native. Designed to be an imagining of his estate and hidden garden (Atlanta’s nickname is “a city in a forest”), evidenced by the floral motifs in wallcoverings, carpets, and upholstery. The dramatic double-height features a variety of seating options for guests to congregate for impromptu meetings or a drink and for individual travelers who might want to settle in to work or read. There is also a revamped spa and a new restaurant, Lantana, where guests enjoy all-day full service from breakfast to dinner to late night drinks and a weekly bingo hosted by Drag Performer Taylor Alxndr.

Suite-Me-Up: The guestrooms are based on Arthur’s interest in the music and movie scene in Atlanta, and, in some of the rooms, his passion for nature. Custom digital wallcoverings—such as one inspired by vintage vinyl records and another tone-on-tone reminiscent of a forest—punctuate the theme, creating an otherworldly oasis in the heart of the Southern city. The ultimate urban escape, the 26th-floor Piedmont Suite is a singular oasis featuring a chic living room with fireplace and floating chaise lounge chair overlooking Piedmont Park and Stone Mountain, an intimate dining room with wet bar and private bedroom with an spa-style, en-suite bathroom featuring an air jet tub for two and oversized shower.
