Vibe: A striking retreat with eclectic Alpine-inspired interiors, exceptionally comfortable beds, a small-but-sleek spa and impressive eco-credentials.
Area: The Valsana is spread across three new buildings, a five-minute walk from the main street and train station (Zurich two hours). It is a four-minute walk to the nearest cable car to reach the tip of the Weisshorn.
The DNA: Owned by the Tschuggen Hotel Group (Tschuggen Grand Arosa, Carlton Hotel St Moritz), the Valsana is the first hotel in Switzerland powered by an ice vault, an underground thermal energy storage system that allows excess energy to be stored. The three buildings are constructed to the highest environmental and energy standards and are characterised by state-of-the-art architecture in wood and stone. Drawing inspiration from the area’s natural surroundings, Roman Mooser uses eco-friendly materials for the architecture, while interior designer and Ascona native Carlo Rampazzi selected furnishings and décor that match the hotel’s eco-conscious ethos.
Suite-Me-Up: The top floor, two bedroom suite comes with a huge south-facing balcony, one king-sized and a twin bedroom, a separate living area, two bathrooms with a bath, one of them with a shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a fireplace.
