Hotel Danmark tells Copenhagen’s story through architecture. The hotel occupies two very different buildings: an elegant eighteenth-century townhouse and a bold modern structure from 1969, now wrapped in striking racing-green ceramic tiles by architect Morten Hedegaard. Rather than disguising their differences, the renovation celebrates them, allowing old and new to exist comfortably alongside one another. History provides the foundation. Contemporary design adds the energy.

Inspired by Art

The interiors draw much of their inspiration from the nearby Thorvaldsen Museum. Rich blues, terracotta tones, dusty greens, glossy lacquered surfaces, mosaic flooring, velvet-like wall finishes, and graphic details create spaces that feel expressive without becoming overwhelming. Brass, black marble, warm timber, and carefully selected furnishings give the lobby the atmosphere of an elegant urban living room that naturally evolves into a lively bar throughout the day. Colour becomes architecture. Rather than decoration.

The hotel’s 88 guestrooms embrace efficient Scandinavian planning. Leather headboards, custom iron bed frames, bronzed ceiling mirrors, Danish furniture, marble-inspired flooring, and tactile materials create rooms that feel warm, modern, and quietly distinctive. Some feature balconies overlooking the city, while the stylish six-bed bunk rooms offer one of Copenhagen’s most design-conscious options for groups. The rooms are modest in size.
