Located in the quiet Salento village of Gagliano del Capo, the former family home of art collector Francesco Petrucci has been transformed into an intimate retreat where history is not restored to perfection but carefully revealed. Working with Ludovica and Roberto Palomba of Palomba Serafini, every unnecessary layer was stripped away, leaving behind frescoed ceilings, mosaic floors, weathered plaster, and centuries of architectural memory. The building breathes again. And so do its guests.

The Beauty of Restraint

The design philosophy revolves around absence. Rather than filling rooms with decoration, the interiors celebrate space itself. Monastic beds, black steel wardrobes, sculptural lighting, and carefully selected contemporary furniture stand against walls marked by time, allowing every crack, faded fresco, and worn surface to become part of the composition. Contemporary art forms the soul of Palazzo Daniele. Works from Francesco Petrucci’s collection are integrated throughout the building, with pieces by artists including Luigi Presicce, Roberto Cuoghi, Nicolas Party, Carla Accardi, Mohamed Namou, and Simon d’Exea appearing naturally among portraits, historic architecture, and restored interiors.
