Das Wanda

Set among the vineyards of Caldaro, Das Wanda feels more like a private residence than a conventional hotel. Owner and designer Verena Huf drew inspiration from her family’s guesthouse on the island of Elba, Villa Wanda, translating those memories into a contemporary retreat shaped by warmth, simplicity, and an unmistakable sense of place. The original villa has been carefully restored, preserving its intimate scale while embracing a quieter, more refined architectural language. Nothing feels staged. Everything feels personal.

Architecture Guided by Light

The design is rooted in material honesty. Lime-rendered façades, porphyry stone, larch timber, brushed cement, and blonde oak create a restrained palette that reflects both the Alpine and Mediterranean character of South Tyrol. Large areas of glazing invite changing daylight deep into the interiors, while terraces and balconies maintain a constant dialogue with vineyards, orchards, and distant mountain peaks. The landscape enters every room. Architecture simply frames it.

Suites Designed for Stillness

With only twelve suites and a small collection of studios, Das Wanda places quality firmly ahead of quantity. Clay-toned walls, solid oak floors, hemp linens, handcrafted furniture, and soft natural textiles create calm interiors that feel timeless rather than fashionable. Many suites feature generous terraces or balconies overlooking the vineyards, while the studios introduce kitchenettes for longer stays without compromising the carefully curated aesthetic. Luxury feels wonderfully understated. Comfort comes naturally.

Breakfast reflects the same thoughtful philosophy found throughout the hotel.
