Long before Barcelona became saturated with design hotels, this address was already setting the pace. Originally opened as Hotel OMM, the property helped define a new generation of hospitality in the city. Its rebirth as Sir Victor preserves that pioneering spirit while introducing a more international, social identity under the Sir Hotels brand. The result feels familiar. But never nostalgic.

A Façade That Performs

The hotel’s most recognisable feature remains its remarkable façade by Juli Capella. Curved limestone panels peel away from the building like pages turning in the wind, filtering sunlight, absorbing street noise, and creating private balconies overlooking Passeig de Gràcia. Their angled openings frame carefully controlled views of Casa Milà across the avenue, turning one of Barcelona’s busiest streets into a constantly shifting architectural composition. It is expressive. But entirely functional.

Calm Behind the City

Inside, Baranowitz + Kronenberg have created a quieter counterpoint to the energy outside. Oak flooring, dark walnut, brushed metal, leather, marble, and tactile fabrics give the public spaces warmth and depth. Suspended globe lights, generous banquettes, and an oversized Carrara marble pool table introduce a playful edge, while rubber-lined corridors soften sound and create an almost futuristic sense of stillness. The atmosphere is composed. Never corporate.

Rooms with Catalan Character

Guestrooms combine clean lines with local materials, curated books, and contemporary art. Handwoven rugs by Nanimarquina sit alongside furniture by Cassina and B&B Italia, while works by Barcelona-based artists bring personality to each room. Angled windows allow daylight to flood the interiors without compromising privacy, and selected rooms open onto balconies facing Casa Milà. The design feels refined. Yet unmistakably connected to the city.

Above Passeig de Gràcia

The rooftop is Sir Victor at its most sociable. A compact pool, sun terrace, and bar overlook the rooftops of Barcelona, with views extending towards Casa Milà and the Sagrada Família. By day, it offers a calm escape above the shopping district. By evening, music, cocktails, and sunset light transform it into one of the hotel’s most animated spaces. At street level, MR PORTER brings a darker, more theatrical mood through polished stone, copper, leather, and low lighting. Part steakhouse, part bar, it reflects the hotel’s ability to shift effortlessly between calm and energy.

Why It Works

Sir Victor succeeds because it understands contrast. Its sculptural façade engages directly with Barcelona, while the interiors create distance from the city’s noise. Architecture, art, and hospitality work together without competing for attention. The result is stylish, intelligent, and still one of the most distinctive design hotels on Passeig de Gràcia.
