Originally opened in 1860 along the historic Chisholm Trail, the Stagecoach Inn has welcomed everyone from Sam Houston to passing cattle drivers, evolving through several incarnations while remaining one of Texas’ most iconic inns. Today, following a sensitive restoration by Bunkhouse and Clayton Korte, the property once again embraces its original name and historic character, proving that heritage can feel both authentic and contemporary.

Summer Camp Meets Mid-Century Motel

Spread across six historic buildings set within seven acres of native Texas landscape, the hotel feels more like a relaxed village than a traditional inn. Bunkhouse’s signature approach introduces playful references to nostalgic summer camps through custom plaid wool rugs, waxed canvas daybeds, colourful textiles and vintage-inspired lighting, while preserving original timber, stonework and architectural details. Pool-inspired bathrooms, custom millwork and locally commissioned artwork complete interiors that are unmistakably Texan without ever becoming cliché.

Designed for Slow Texas Days

Every one of the 48 guestrooms opens onto a private balcony or patio, encouraging guests to embrace the easy rhythm of outdoor living. At the centre of the property, the large swimming pool and pavilion naturally become the social heart of the hotel, where long afternoons drift into evenings filled with conversation, live music and community gatherings. Rather than creating a polished luxury resort, the Stagecoach Inn celebrates the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that has defined Texas hospitality for generations.

Where History Still Tastes Familiar

The legendary Stagecoach Restaurant remains the soul of the property. Housed inside one of Texas’ oldest surviving buildings, dating from 1861, it continues to serve the famous hush puppies that made the inn a regional institution while pairing Old Texas recipes with contemporary techniques and locally sourced ingredients. Together with the surrounding gardens, heritage buildings and community-focused programming, the Stagecoach Inn offers a rare experience where history is not preserved behind glass, but lived every day.
