A Capital of Contrasts, Reimagined
Set within the ancient Venetian walls of Nicosia, Amyth of Nicosia offers a rare immersion into one of Europe’s most complex and culturally layered cities. Here, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot influences intertwine, creating a rhythm that feels both historic and alive. Housed in a meticulously restored early 20th-century villa, the hotel connects guests directly to the city’s past—while quietly introducing a refined, contemporary sensibility.
A Restoration Rooted in Respect
Originally designed as two private residences, later transformed into a girls’ school, the building has been carefully brought back to life by Eraclis Papachristou Architects and designer Maria Neophytou. The restoration is deliberate and restrained. Painted ceilings, vintage tiles, carved woodwork, and the villa’s grand staircase remain untouched in spirit, allowing the architecture to lead the narrative. Every intervention feels intentional—never imposed.
Material Harmony, Mediterranean Light
Inside, the design is guided by texture and tone. Oak and iroko wood, bronze, stone, leather, and silk create a palette that is warm, grounded, and quietly luxurious. Rooms are airy and minimal, with high ceilings and blue-shuttered windows framing the Cypriot sunlight. Some open onto private terraces, where the city reveals itself in layers—church bells, distant minarets, and terracotta rooftops stretching across the Old Town.
Spaces That Invite Slow Living
At the heart of the villa, the courtyard and lounge offer moments of pause after the city’s intensity. The atmosphere is intimate—more residence than hotel. Downstairs, Amyth Kouzina brings together Cypriot tradition and Mediterranean influence. Local ingredients shape the menu, while the olive-tree terrace sets the tone for long, unhurried evenings. A brandy sour in hand, the pace of the island becomes unmistakable.
A City at Your Doorstep
From its quiet corner in the Old City, Amyth places guests within walking distance of Nicosia’s most compelling landmarks—from historic mansions and museums to newly reimagined public spaces. The hotel deepens this connection through curated experiences—archaeologist-led walks, textile workshops—offering access not just to places, but to the stories behind them.
Rooms with a Sense of Place
Each of the ten rooms and suites balances simplicity with character. Clean lines meet preserved details, creating spaces that feel both considered and personal. Terrace rooms stand out—sun-warmed, open to the skyline, and deeply connected to the city’s layered identity.
DNA Hotels Verdict
Amyth of Nicosia is less about luxury in the traditional sense, and more about atmosphere, authenticity, and connection. A historic villa shaped by time, thoughtfully restored and quietly redefined—this is a place where architecture tells stories, and where the past and present exist in effortless harmony.
