A|S Boutique Residence – Art, Romance & Rooftop Havana
A Colonial Mansion Reborn in Cuba’s Cultural Capital
From Moscow to Havana, with Love
What started as a chance meeting between Dutch abstract artist André Visser and Cuban dancer Sandy Solano Díaz in Moscow became a passion project rooted in heritage, design, and connection. In a city known for state-run hotels and homestays, A|S Boutique Residence emerged as a bold new kind of Havana stay—one driven by intimacy, authenticity, and artistic soul.
Colonial Bones, Contemporary Spirit
Their canvas? A roofless, crumbling colonial mansion near Solano Díaz’s childhood neighborhood. What it lacked in ceilings, it made up for in potential—five-meter-high walls, old-world detailing, and soul to spare. Visser and Solano Díaz rebuilt it with reverence and vision, blending history with clean-lined elegance.
Design with a Point of View
Inside, Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona chairs rest beneath industrial lighting. Venetian glass vases add vintage texture, while Visser’s abstract works breathe color and movement into the space. The result is layered, refined, and unmistakably personal—part gallery, part home, all Havana.
Beyond the Stay
This is more than a boutique hotel—it’s a cultural microcosm. Guests sip afternoon cocktails in the private lounge, dip into the rooftop plunge pool, and soak in city views from the sun-drenched terrace. Downstairs, a Grand Café and gallery pulse with local energy, creating a seamless flow between guest life and neighborhood life.
DNA Hotels Verdict
A|S Boutique Residence is Havana reimagined—artful, intimate, and deeply personal. For travelers who crave design integrity, cultural depth, and a story behind every detail, this is more than just a stay. It’s a creative love letter to Cuba itself.
