Ekies All Senses Resort

The DNA

Ekies All Senses Resort, Vourvourou, Halkidiki, Greece
Barefoot Greek Modernism on the Shores of the Aegean

Why DNA Hotels Loves It

● One of Greece’s most influential design resorts, blending contemporary architecture with local culture and craftsmanship.
● A rare balance of sustainability, family-friendly hospitality, and sophisticated boutique-hotel aesthetics.
● Beautifully positioned between pine forests and turquoise waters, creating a seamless connection between nature and design.

A Different Kind of Greek Escape

On the sheltered shores of Vourvourou Bay, where pine forests tumble gently toward the Aegean and shallow turquoise waters stretch toward a scattering of small islands, Ekies All Senses Resort offers a different vision of Greek hospitality. There are no grand entrances. No marble palaces. No excessive displays of luxury. Instead, Ekies embraces something far more compelling: simplicity, authenticity, and a deep emotional connection to place. Originally a beloved family retreat, owner Alexandra Efstathiadou transformed the property into one of Greece’s most distinctive design-led resorts. The result feels deeply personal—a place where contemporary architecture, environmental awareness, and relaxed Mediterranean living exist in perfect harmony.

A Resort Shaped by Greek Creativity

The visual identity of Ekies was developed in collaboration with award-winning creative agency Beetroot, whose playful interpretation of Greek culture runs throughout the property. Traditional references appear in unexpected ways. Illustrations inspired by Aesop’s fables decorate walls. Handcrafted ceramics add character to communal spaces. Natural materials soften contemporary architecture. Local craftsmanship is celebrated rather than hidden. The design feels unmistakably Greek, yet refreshingly modern. Furniture and objects create an eclectic mix of influences. Contemporary pieces sit comfortably alongside iconic designs by Philippe Starck, Achille Castiglioni, Vitra, Magis, and Arper. Inspiration also comes from the monastic simplicity of nearby Mount Athos, visible in the restrained interiors, earthy palettes, and emphasis on calm over decoration. Rather than following a single aesthetic direction, Ekies embraces a layered identity that feels organic and authentic.

Architecture in Harmony with Nature

At Ekies, architecture never competes with the landscape. It frames it. Low-rise buildings disappear among the pines. Terraces open toward the sea. Natural ventilation reduces dependence on mechanical systems. Wood, stone, terracotta, linen, and concrete create a tactile connection to the surrounding environment. The extensive use of locally sourced materials ensures that the resort feels rooted in Halkidiki rather than imposed upon it. This sensitivity extends to the resort’s sustainability philosophy, which forms part of its DNA rather than functioning as a marketing exercise. Eco-friendly materials. Natural fabrics. Non-toxic finishes. Coco-mat ecological mattresses. A commitment to reducing waste and environmental impact. The result is a property that feels both contemporary and responsible.

Rooms Designed for Slow Living

The resort’s 76 rooms and suites share a common philosophy: comfort through simplicity. Each room has its own character, but all embrace a relaxed palette of natural textures, soft colors, polished concrete, timber, linen, handmade tiles, and warm Mediterranean light. Some suites open directly onto private gardens with plunge pools or hot tubs. Others overlook the sea, the gardens, or the resort’s palm-lined pool. Flowing curtains soften the boundaries between inside and outside. Open-plan layouts encourage a slower pace of living. Nothing feels over-designed. Nothing feels precious. The atmosphere is intentionally relaxed—spaces designed for barefoot mornings, long afternoons, and evenings shaped by sea breezes and sunset light.

Life Around the Beach Club

The social heart of Ekies is its Beach Club. Here, restaurant, lounge, and bar merge seamlessly with the shoreline, creating a space that evolves naturally throughout the day. Morning coffee becomes lunch. Lunch becomes afternoon cocktails. Cocktails become dinner beneath the stars. Oversized sofas, woven loungers, floor cushions, and whitewashed terraces create an atmosphere that feels effortlessly Mediterranean. Guests move between sea, shade, and social spaces without ever feeling hurried. It is luxury measured in atmosphere rather than amenities.

Contemporary Greek Cuisine

Food plays a central role in the Ekies experience. At Bubo, contemporary Greek cuisine celebrates local ingredients, regional traditions, and seasonal produce. Fresh seafood, vegetables, herbs, and olive oil form the foundation of dishes that feel modern without losing their connection to place. Kuko offers a more casual experience, inspired by the traditional Greek mageirio, serving comforting local dishes in a bright and relaxed setting. For something more memorable, the Treehouse provides one of Halkidiki’s most distinctive dining experiences. Elevated above the landscape and overlooking the sea, this intimate platform hosts tasting menus for just a handful of guests, creating an unforgettable connection between gastronomy and nature.

The Art of Barefoot Luxury

What makes Ekies special is its understanding that luxury does not need to be complicated. Families spend days moving between the shallow bay and the pool. Couples relax in hammocks suspended above the water. Boats depart for hidden beaches and uninhabited islands. Guests read beneath pine trees, linger over lunch, and lose track of time. The experience feels effortless because everything has been designed to support a slower, more meaningful rhythm of life.

Where Greek Hospitality Feels Most Authentic

Ekies All Senses Resort represents a modern vision of Greece that feels increasingly relevant: environmentally conscious, design-driven, locally rooted, and emotionally engaging. Rather than chasing trends or spectacle, it focuses on atmosphere, craftsmanship, and connection—to nature, to culture, and to the simple pleasures of life beside the sea. For travelers seeking contemporary Greek design, barefoot elegance, and a genuine sense of place, Ekies remains one of the most soulful and rewarding resorts in the Aegean.
