Eremito – Umbria, A Modern Hermitage in Stone and Silence
An ancient spirit rebuilt for a mindful age
Type: boutique hotel
Vibe: quiet, nature, no TV!, remote
DNA: adult-only, all-inclusive, boho chic, eco & sustainability, independent hotel, minimalist
Built by Hand, Guided by History
On the site of a crumbling rural house, Eremito rose stone by stone—130,000 of them—over four years, following the craft of 13th-century Italian masonry. The result is a retreat that feels as though it has stood for centuries, seamlessly blending into the rolling Umbrian hills. Behind its timeworn façade, however, lies a quietly radical approach to sustainability: the entire property is powered by solar energy, while much of its gentle light comes from candles, deepening the meditative atmosphere.
Simplicity as a Luxury
Inside, natural materials—stone, wood, raw fabrics—set the tone for interiors that are intentionally pared back. There are no superfluous distractions; each furnishing exists to serve comfort and stillness. The design philosophy invites you to slow down, notice the passing of light, and reconnect with what’s essential.
The Spirit of a Sanctuary
Eremito’s monastic essence is more than aesthetic—it’s a way of being. Here, silence, mindfulness, and nature weave together, creating an experience as restorative as it is rare. Whether meditating by candlelight or gazing out over untouched landscapes, guests step into a rhythm that feels eternal.
DNA Hotels Verdict
Eremito is not just a place to stay—it’s a retreat for the soul. By fusing medieval craftsmanship with 21st-century sustainability, it offers a rare space where time slows, senses heighten, and the modern world fades to a whisper.
