Gekko House Frankfurt

The DNA

Gekko House Frankfurt – Frankfurt, Germany
Concrete Cool in the City of Commerce

Why DNA Hotels Loves It

● A bold industrial-inspired design hotel that reveals a more creative and contemporary side of Frankfurt.
● Interiors by Morgen Interiors balance raw concrete, rich textures, and bespoke details with remarkable confidence.
● One of the city’s most vibrant social hubs, combining design-led hospitality with an unmistakably urban energy.

A Different Side of Frankfurt

Frankfurt is often associated with glass towers, financial institutions, and corporate efficiency. Gekko House challenges that perception entirely. Located in the rapidly evolving Gallus district, the hotel presents a more creative, youthful, and design-conscious vision of the city. Created by hospitality entrepreneurs Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu of the Gekko Group, whose portfolio includes acclaimed properties such as Roomers, The Pure, and Gerbermühle, Gekko House was conceived as a hotel that embraces the area’s industrial heritage while reflecting its growing cultural and creative identity. The result feels distinctly urban, confidently contemporary, and refreshingly free of traditional business-hotel conventions.

Industrial Character, Reimagined

Designed by Morgen Interiors, the hotel draws heavily on the industrial history of Gallus without becoming predictable. Raw concrete walls form the architectural backbone of the guestrooms, introducing a sense of honesty and permanence rarely found in contemporary hospitality design. Yet the interiors never feel cold. Pale oak herringbone flooring softens the concrete surfaces, while velvet seating, handcrafted furnishings, warm textiles, and hand-blown glass lighting create a rich tactile contrast. The balance between hardness and comfort is carefully judged. Industrial materials provide character, while layers of texture and craftsmanship introduce warmth and personality. It is a design language that feels confident rather than decorative.

Rooms with Urban Attitude

The 128 guestrooms continue this dialogue between rawness and refinement. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Frankfurt’s skyline, placing guests directly within the city’s evolving architectural landscape. Custom-designed furniture, carefully selected materials, and thoughtful details create spaces that feel individual rather than standardised. Marshall speakers introduce a subtle note of rebellion, while warm lighting and tactile finishes prevent the industrial aesthetic from ever feeling overly serious. The rooms reflect the broader identity of the hotel: modern, expressive, and quietly self-assured.

A Lobby Designed for People

Unlike many design hotels where the lobby functions merely as a transition space, Gekko House treats it as a destination in its own right. Deep olive walls, cherry wood panelling, rich fabrics, and layered textures create an atmosphere that feels welcoming, intimate, and distinctly residential. The compact scale works in its favour. Rather than feeling grand, the space encourages interaction and lingering. Guests settle into conversations, work remotely, or simply observe the steady rhythm of life moving through the hotel. Adding to the neighbourhood feel is the Gekko Späti, a contemporary interpretation of the beloved German late-night convenience store, offering locally sourced snacks, drinks, and carefully curated objects that reflect the hotel’s playful personality.

Chicago Williams Brings the Energy

At the heart of the public spaces sits Chicago Williams, an extension of the cult Berlin barbecue concept. The restaurant introduces a more relaxed and energetic atmosphere, combining smoked meats, hearty comfort food, German beers, and cocktails within interiors defined by crimson accents, oak tables, copper details, and a lively social buzz. It is exactly the kind of venue that attracts both guests and locals — a quality that often separates memorable hotels from forgettable ones. The restaurant gives Gekko House an energy that extends far beyond accommodation alone.

Frankfurt from Above

The experience culminates on the rooftop at Chicago Beach. Perched above the city, the rooftop bar offers expansive views across Frankfurt’s skyline, transforming dramatically as day turns into evening. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, combining panoramic views with cocktails, music, and a crowd that reflects the hotel’s creative spirit. It feels less like a hotel facility and more like one of the city’s preferred gathering places. For many guests, it becomes the defining memory of their stay.

Frankfurt, Reimagined

Gekko House succeeds because it captures a side of Frankfurt that many visitors never expect to find. Through thoughtful design, industrial character, vibrant social spaces, and a strong connection to its neighbourhood, it presents a city that is creative, energetic, and constantly evolving. For travellers seeking personality over convention, atmosphere over formality, and design with genuine urban character, Gekko House offers one of Frankfurt’s most compelling contemporary hotel experiences.
