Nobis Hotel Palma

The DNA

Nobis Hotel Palma – A Millennium of Majesty, Reimagined
A 12th-Century Palace Restored with Nordic Restraint and Mediterranean Soul

A Dialogue Across Time

In the heart of Palma’s old quarter, Nobis Hotel Palma stands as a hushed conversation between centuries. Housed within a former 12th-century Muslim palace—one of the city’s oldest structures—this 37-room sanctuary doesn’t just preserve history; it reinterprets it with grace. The result is a deeply sensory stay, where the past is always present, but never overbearing.

Scandinavian Clarity, Mediterranean Warmth

Reimagined by acclaimed Swedish firm Wingårdhs, the design layers Nordic minimalism with local materiality. Carl Hansen bedframes, bespoke artwork, earth-toned textiles, and soft stone walls create a palette of calm. The interiors breathe, allowing ancient details—like arched doorways and original masonry—to whisper rather than shout.

A Palace with a Past (and a Pulse)

This building has survived fire, earthquakes, and the sweep of history. Today, it centers around two symmetrical patios, one with a restored fountain turned private plunge pool—a moment of stillness hidden in stone. The reception ceiling, a preserved alfarje adorned with Arabic calligraphy, is one of the rarest of its kind in Mallorca. Step inside and you’re walking through living heritage.

Public Spaces That Reveal Themselves

Drama meets intimacy in the cocktail lounge, where nine-meter ceilings, a 15th-century mural, and stone walls frame moments of quiet grandeur. The rooftop terrace offers sweeping views over Palma, while the hotel’s restaurant—helmed by chef Xema Álvarez—serves modern Balearic dishes with lightness and elegance. Dining here feels ceremonial, not performative.

Rooms with Soul and Story

Each room is its own architectural vignette: some shaped by the building’s medieval quirks, others filled with soft light and modern lines. No two are the same, but all share understated luxury, custom craftsmanship, and a fluency in blending comfort with context. This is hospitality with historical literacy.

DNA Hotels Verdict

Nobis Hotel Palma is a design pilgrimage—a space where a thousand years of history meet the poise of Scandinavian precision. It’s a palace, a poem, a retreat—crafted not just for rest, but for reflection. For travelers who seek meaning in materials and stories in every stone, this is a place to inhabit, not just visit.
