A New Chapter for EDITION
The arrival of The Singapore EDITION marked a significant moment for the brand. Positioned just off Orchard Road, the hotel introduces Ian Schrager’s signature blend of minimalist luxury and vibrant social energy to Southeast Asia. Designed by Moshe Safdie together with DP Architects, the building presents a calm architectural presence of bronze, glass, and pale stone that quietly distinguishes itself from its prestigious neighbours. Luxury feels confident. The architecture speaks softly.
Nature at the Heart of the Design
Stepping inside reveals a remarkable sequence of spaces. Curving white marble walls, a soaring gold-leaf dome, tropical planting, and a light-filled conservatory establish an immediate connection between architecture and landscape. At the centre of the building, an expansive garden courtyard draws daylight deep into the hotel, allowing greenery to become an integral part of the guest experience rather than decorative scenery. The boundaries dissolve. Inside and outside become one.
Serenity Above the City
The 204 guestrooms embrace the EDITION philosophy of restrained elegance. White oak flooring, crisp linens, marble bathrooms, bespoke furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows create interiors that feel almost monastic in their simplicity. Many rooms overlook the lush internal courtyard, while carefully layered lighting, tactile materials, and thoughtful detailing ensure warmth accompanies the minimalism. Nothing distracts. Comfort comes through refinement.
A New Social Destination
As with every EDITION, the public spaces are central to the experience. Josh Niland’s acclaimed FYSH introduces his celebrated approach to sustainable seafood in an elegant dining room overlooking lush planting, while the intimate Punch Room reimagines the classic cocktail club with rich blue interiors, oak panelling, and cocktails inspired by Southeast Asian flavours. Above it all, the 43-metre rooftop pool and terrace provide one of Singapore’s most stylish places to unwind. Hospitality becomes a social ritual. Every space has its own personality.
Resort Living in the City
Despite its central location, the hotel maintains an unmistakable resort atmosphere. The landscaped courtyard, rooftop gardens, expansive spa with thermal pools and ice fountain, and generous outdoor terraces create moments of calm rarely found in the middle of Singapore. Throughout the building, biophilic design and generous natural light soften the urban setting. The city remains close. The experience feels wonderfully secluded.
Why It Works
The Singapore EDITION succeeds because it perfectly balances architectural restraint with sensory richness. Through Safdie’s elegant architecture, Cap Atelier’s refined interiors, abundant tropical landscaping, and Ian Schrager’s distinctive vision of modern luxury, it offers one of Singapore’s most sophisticated contemporary hotel experiences—where glamour never overwhelms, and every detail feels quietly intentional.
