A Jet-Set Legend Meets a $70 Million Transformation
Since its 1966 debut as Sydney’s first international five-star hotel, the Wentworth Hotel has embodied jet-set glamour—welcoming royalty, Hollywood stars, and global dignitaries. Today, after a dazzling AUD 70 million reinvention by FK Architecture and Interior Design, the hotel stands renewed: a seamless blend of mid-century legacy and future-focused luxury.
Modern Heritage by FK
The redesign embraces a “Modern Heritage” ethos. The iconic curved brick façade remains untouched—an architectural anchor—while the interiors have been softened and sculpted into contemporary elegance. Bronze details, warm tones inspired by the Australian landscape, and gentle, organic forms create a refined sense of place. A luminous lobby installation by Shaun Dudley recalls Sofitel’s tradition of candlelit welcome, while interactive check-in hubs and a dedicated concierge app infuse the experience with streamlined, modern ease.
Rooms That Feel Both Vintage and Very Now
All 436 rooms and suites, arranged along the hotel’s sweeping internal curve, have been transformed into serene sanctuaries. Expect MySmart lighting, Sofitel MyBed™ comfort, Nespresso machines, and luxe Balmain bath amenities. Guests seeking wellness on the go can request a bespoke in-room Wellness Bag, complete with yoga mat, bands, and foam roller—modern luxury that moves with you.
A New Era of Dining & Drinking
House Made Hospitality has reinvented the hotel’s food and beverage landscape:
-
tilda — an easygoing lobby-level Australian seafood grill.
-
Bar tilda — nostalgia-drenched cocktails, live nu-jazz, and a 1960s-influenced atmosphere, plus a remarkable Australian whisky library.
-
Delta Rue — Vietnamese–French fusion served on the breezy fifth-floor terrace, complete with banh-mi trolleys and theatrical group cocktails.
-
Wentworth Bar — a vibrant alfresco terrace under a new glass-and-copper canopy, dotted with terrazzo tables and lush potted greenery.
DNA Hotels Verdict
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is heritage made radiant. Its mid-century jet-set soul still sparkles, but the renewed interiors, culinary reinvention, and technology-forward guest experience feel unmistakably 2025. A Sydney icon returned to full brilliance—modern, magnetic, and utterly itself.
