The Vibe: Minimalist, Modern Masseria
The Area: At the sharp end of the Salento stiletto in southern Italy. It’s close to not one, but three Baroque beauties: latte-coloured Lecce and undiscovered (for now) Nardò, as well as Gallipoli, a fishing village on the edge of the Ionian, pine-forest reserves that lead to a pebbly shore and white-sand/cyan-water Caribbean-rivalling beaches.

The DNA: Masseria Corsano is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been restored to more than its former glory. While most masseria hotels take a more on traditional decor, certain gestures are made in the direction of classic Puglian interior design, from the whites, grays, and creams of the color palette to the archways and other stonework that remain from the original structure. Masseria Corsano provides a fully self-contained experience; the bartenders at the hotel’s 32 Lounge pour locally inspired cocktails showcasing housemade ingredients, and MC Restaurant serves a fine modern version of authentic Salentine fare. There is a spa & wellness area (though Italian benessere sounds so much better), a padel court and an inviting swimming pool. For those who want to venture out, the hotel offers a range of activities.
Suite-Me-Up: The 15 suites are inspired by nature and feature star and barrel vaults. They are oriented east-west to enjoy the best shades of light in Salento from sunrise to sunset. All are equipped with a solarium, Kos Zucchetti hydromassage baths and a terrace. The Tower Suite, with panoramic views of its surroundings, is the perfect place to let your hair down, Rapunzel-style.
