The DNA

18 Micon Street, Athens, Greece
An Industrial Warehouse Reimagined as a Design-Driven Urban Retreat in the Heart of Psirri

Why DNA Hotels Loves It

● A sensitively converted 1950s warehouse by Divercity Architects that embraces Athens’ industrial heritage without sacrificing warmth or comfort.
● Just 15 spacious rooms combining raw materials, minimalist design, and rooftop views towards the Acropolis.
● An authentic location in Psirri, placing guests in one of Athens’ most creative neighbourhoods rather than behind the walls of a conventional luxury hotel.

A Warehouse Reimagined

Hidden among the lively streets of Psirri, 18 Micon Street occupies a former warehouse dating from the 1950s. Rather than erase the building’s industrial origins, Divercity Architects allowed them to shape the hotel’s identity. Concrete, pale marble, weathered terracotta, and muted grey tones create interiors that feel honest, tactile, and unmistakably Athenian. Even an icon discovered during the renovation has been preserved in a small entrance shrine, quietly acknowledging the layers of history beneath the building. The past remains visible. The architecture feels refreshingly honest.

Industrial Warmth

Minimalism here never feels cold. Natural textures soften the raw architectural shell, while carefully selected furnishings introduce comfort without clutter. Large windows flood the interiors with daylight, creating calm spaces that provide a welcome contrast to the energy of the surrounding neighbourhood. Everything feels understated. Nothing feels anonymous.

Fifteen Rooms with Character

With only fifteen guestrooms, the hotel maintains an intimate, residential atmosphere. Even the entry-level rooms are generously proportioned, while lofts and suites add balconies with oversized daybeds and sweeping views across Athens towards the Acropolis. Soundproof glazing offers welcome tranquillity, allowing guests to retreat from the lively streets below without losing their connection to the city. Comfort comes naturally. The city always remains close.

The Living Room of Psirri

The ground floor functions less as a hotel lobby than as an inviting communal living space. Guests linger over complimentary coffee, browse design books, or simply watch neighbourhood life unfold through the oversized windows. It reflects the hotel’s wider philosophy: relaxed, informal, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Hospitality feels effortless. The atmosphere encourages you to stay.

Athens Without the Filter

Located just minutes from Monastiraki Square and beneath the Acropolis, 18 Micon Street places guests at the centre of contemporary Athens. Psirri is a neighbourhood of workshops, galleries, tavernas, vintage stores, and street art, where ancient monuments and creative culture exist side by side. From the rooftop terraces, the Parthenon rises above a patchwork of rooftops, reminding guests that in Athens, history is never far away. Old and new coexist naturally. The city reveals its true character.

Why It Works

18 Micon Street succeeds because it captures the authentic spirit of contemporary Athens rather than an idealised version of it. Its thoughtful industrial conversion, restrained material palette, intimate scale, and immersive location create a boutique hotel that feels rooted in its neighbourhood. It is Athens in its most genuine—and most stylish—form.
