A Boutique Stay with a Neighborhood Heartbeat
The Heywood Hotel proves that luxury has little to do with size. Set within a lovingly restored 1925 Craftsman bungalow in the heart of East Austin, this independent seven-room hideaway offers an experience that feels personal from the moment you arrive. Instead of polished uniformity, guests discover a hotel deeply rooted in its neighbourhood, where creativity, craftsmanship and community define every stay.
Designed by Austin, for Austin
Everything about the Heywood reflects the city it calls home. Handmade furniture, locally woven textiles, custom architecture and original artwork by Austin artists create interiors that feel contemporary while remaining unmistakably local. Original longleaf pine floors, warm timber finishes and colourful contemporary art add texture and personality, creating spaces that are stylish without ever feeling staged.
Seven Rooms, Endless Character
Each of the seven guestrooms has its own identity while sharing the same commitment to comfort and craftsmanship. Lofted ceilings, handcrafted beds, Stearns & Foster mattresses and luxurious linens create an inviting retreat after a day exploring the city. Selected rooms preserve original architectural details from the historic bungalow, while others offer private patios, abundant natural light and thoughtful touches such as locally sourced minibar treats and Kevin Murphy amenities.
The Austin Only Locals Know
The Heywood’s greatest strength is its commitment to keeping everything local. From neighbourhood-roasted coffee and complimentary craft beer at check-in to artisan chocolates and handmade products, nearly every aspect of the guest experience supports Austin’s creative community. The entirely local team happily shares favourite taco trucks, dive bars, galleries and live music venues that rarely make it into guidebooks, while complimentary bicycles and a curated guide to more than ninety-nine nearby places encourage guests to explore East Austin like a true local.
