Lone Hotel Rovinj: Where Design Meets Nature in Perfect Harmony
Croatia’s first design hotel—bold, beautiful, and born from the forest.

Type: architectural hotel, design hotel
Vibe: lively
DNA: art & culture, beach, kids, pets allowed

A Modern Icon in the Heart of Nature

Nestled within the Zlatni Rt forest park, just moments from the Adriatic Sea, Lone Hotel stands as a beacon of modern Croatian creativity. Opened as Croatia’s first true design hotel, it’s a daring collaboration between the country’s leading architects, artists, and designers—a living testament to how art and nature can exist in seamless balance. Designed by 3LHD Architects, Lone’s sleek, yacht-inspired form curves gently through the trees, its cascading balconies and horizontal lines reflecting the rhythm of the nearby coastline. The result is a building that feels anchored in the landscape yet poised for flight, a perfect harmony between man-made precision and organic flow.

Where Design Tells a Story

Step inside, and you enter a world of contrasts—sharp lines meet soft light, bold monochrome palettes are warmed by oak, leather, and linen, and every detail hums with intention. The interiors, curated by a dream team of Croatian talent including studio Numen/For Use and art collective Grupa, are a masterclass in sensory design. The lobby, with its sweeping mural and sculptural staircase, feels more like an art gallery than a hotel entrance. The restaurant, draped in a translucent veil, transforms throughout the day—sunlit and airy by morning, intimate and glowing by night. Even the hallways feel alive, each angle revealing new plays of shadow, texture, and reflection.

Suites that Breathe with the Forest

The 248 rooms and suites echo Lone’s architectural rhythm—spacious, light-filled, and perfectly attuned to the landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto views of pines and sea, while warm wood tones and eco-friendly materials soften the modernist edge. Every piece of furniture, designed exclusively for the hotel, carries the touch of human craftsmanship. It’s minimalist, but never cold. Every surface feels considered, every line purposeful. Form follows feeling, not just function.

An Ecosystem of Design and Wellbeing

Beyond its visual allure, Lone is a multisensory experience. Guests can unwind in the indoor and outdoor pools, rejuvenate in the spa and wellness zone, or sip cocktails on terraces where forest meets horizon. The hotel’s culinary offerings—fresh Adriatic seafood, seasonal Istrian produce, and locally crafted wines—extend the design philosophy to the plate: simple, honest, and beautifully executed.

The Spirit of Rovinj, Redefined

Lone’s genius lies in its ability to be both avant-garde and deeply local. Its design draws from Istria’s architectural DNA—stone, wood, water, and light—reimagined through a contemporary lens. It doesn’t imitate the past; it converses with it. And in doing so, it captures the very essence of modern Rovinj: artistic, forward-looking, yet forever rooted in nature’s rhythm.

DNA Hotels Verdict

Lone Hotel Rovinj is a love letter to Croatian creativity—a bold architectural statement that still whispers the language of the forest and sea. It’s luxury for the curious, design for the dreamers, and nature for the soul. Whether you’re wandering through its art-filled corridors, dining beneath soft light, or gazing into the pines from your balcony, Lone offers a masterclass in modern serenity—where every detail flows, and everything feels alive.
