The transformation, led by Schamu Machowski + Patterson Architects in collaboration with SLDesign, approached the building as a living part of the city rather than a preserved monument. Historic architectural details—including decorative millwork, elegant proportions, and original arched windows—have been carefully retained, while contemporary interventions introduce warmth, colour, and personality throughout the interiors. The 107 guestrooms avoid uniformity in favour of individuality. Antiques sit comfortably alongside mid-century classics and contemporary furnishings, while bespoke pieces, layered textures, and locally inspired colour palettes create spaces that feel residential rather than corporate. Throughout the hotel, works by more than thirty Baltimore artists reinforce the property’s strong connection to the city’s creative community, ensuring every floor offers something unique to discover.
