Hotel Saint George

The DNA

Hotel Saint George – Marfa, Texas
Minimalist architecture and artistic spirit in the heart of West Texas.

Why DNA Hotels Loves It

● The hotel that perfectly captures Marfa’s unique blend of desert minimalism, contemporary art and frontier heritage.
● Thoughtfully designed with industrial materials, reclaimed local elements and a restrained aesthetic inspired by Donald Judd’s legacy.
● More than a hotel—a cultural meeting place where artists, locals and travellers naturally come together.

A Landmark Reimagined

Hotel Saint George stands on the historic footprint of Marfa’s original 1880s hotel, reinterpreting one of the town’s most important sites for a new generation of creative travellers. Designed by Carlos Jiménez Studio together with HKS Hospitality Group, the contemporary four-storey building embraces clean geometry and understated architecture that feel entirely at home within Marfa’s vast desert landscape. Rather than competing with its surroundings, the hotel quietly reflects the simplicity and openness that define this extraordinary corner of West Texas.

Inspired by the Desert and Donald Judd

Few places are as closely associated with minimalist art as Marfa, and Hotel Saint George embraces that heritage with remarkable confidence. Polished concrete floors, white steel detailing, mahogany accents and reclaimed materials create interiors that feel simultaneously industrial and warm. Vintage furniture sits comfortably alongside contemporary design, while artworks by local and international artists reinforce the hotel’s close relationship with the town’s creative community. Throughout the building, the architecture never overwhelms the experience—it simply creates space for art, light and landscape to speak for themselves.

Rooms Designed for Quiet Reflection

The 55 guestrooms continue the restrained design language with spacious layouts, natural materials and calming neutral tones. Felt headboards, handcrafted furnishings, vintage rugs and soft textiles add warmth to interiors that remain intentionally uncluttered. Large windows frame Marfa’s endless skies and distant mountain ranges, allowing the surrounding desert to become part of every room. The result is a calming retreat that feels as timeless as the landscape itself.

The Living Room of Marfa

More than anywhere else, it is the public spaces that define Hotel Saint George. The lobby is home to the celebrated Marfa Book Company, creating a unique combination of independent bookstore, concept store and cultural gathering place where conversations about art, architecture and literature unfold throughout the day. LaVenture brings together seasonal Texas ingredients with Mediterranean influences, while the lively bar welcomes artists, ranchers and international visitors in equal measure. Perfectly positioned between galleries, performance spaces and the Chinati Foundation, Hotel Saint George has become the social and creative heart of one of America’s most remarkable art destinations.
