Superbude St. Georg

The DNA

Superbude St. Georg: Color, Community & Creative Comfort
A hostel-hotel hybrid that’s more like staying with friends

Type: design hostel-hotel hybrid, lifestyle & creative hotel
Style: boho chic, colors, industrial chic
Vibe: lively, urban

Design with a Dash of DIY Charm

Born from a reimagined old printing house and office buildings, Superbude St. Georg is the original. The German design firm Dreimeta (led by architect Armin Fischer) applied playful upcycling in every area: beer crates turned into stools, pallets repurposed into sofas, thick ropes becoming anchor décor, pages of used jeans sewn as cushion covers, and scaffold pipe clothes rails. Each floor gets its own colour theme—blue, red, beige, green, pink, grey—so you can pick your mood before unpacking.

Rooms for All Kinds of Travelers

With 74 rooms and studios, St. Georg offers a spectrum: from cosy double rooms to six-person “fritz-bude” or “Paloma-bude” studios, all with private bathrooms. Beds by Rolf Heide feature in many rooms, with stackable configurations so rooms can flex to groups. Essentials are robust: rain-showers, high-speed WiFi, flatscreen TVs, toiletries, towels.

Shared Spaces That Spark Community

The public areas are where Superbude really breathes. The Kitchen Club doubles as breakfast hall, casual dining, gathering space. There’s also a homey cinema, a gym with snowboard-friendly and foosball flair, a roof terrace, game areas, and even a communal lounge where guests hang, work, or just watch the city flow by. The staff act like insiders, dropping local tips, organizing cool events, pushing the concept of “your living room away from home.”

Location That Balances Buzz & Ease

St. Georg is central: close to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (main station), convenient for shopping at Mönckebergstraße, and quite walkable to HafenCity. Yet thanks to its U-shaped building layout and inner courtyards, it feels tucked away from the hustle. The atmosphere is warm, unpretentious, and ideal for those who want design plus access without pretension.

DNA Hotels Verdict

Superbude St. Georg is a magnetic blend of design, affordability, and heart. It doesn’t pretend to be a luxury showpiece—it’s too real for that. Instead, it’s energetic, inclusive, surprising, and stylish in a way that feels lived in. If you’re a traveller who values character over cookie-cutter, interaction over isolation, this is where you’ll feel both at home and excited to explore.
