The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon
Vertical Drama Meets Subversive Design in the Thai Capital

Where Bold Architecture Meets Bigger Personality

There’s no missing The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. Set within the pixelated crown of one of Thailand’s most iconic skyscrapers, this 155-room hotel lives in a building that was already a statement—and amplifies it. Designed by Ole Scheeren and once the tallest in Bangkok, the King Power Mahanakhon tower twists and deconstructs the traditional silhouette with a striking cubist void that slices through its facade. It’s urban sculpture at scale—and the perfect fit for The Standard’s irreverent brand of cool.

Inside, Spanish design studio Jaime Hayon and The Standard’s in-house team take the architectural boldness and dial it up. Think 70s-meets-future fantasy, with lacquered cherry reds, curved walls, and chrome-finished everything. Geometry takes center stage: circular mirrors, tubular lights, and archways create flow and contrast, while plush fabrics and layered textures soften the look into something sensual and surreal.

Guest Rooms That Think in Curves

Rooms here don’t just offer views—they frame them. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase Bangkok’s skyline, while interiors play with form and color in unexpected ways. The Standard’s signature sinuous furniture and sculptural lighting bring retro-futurist flair, paired with luxe materials like velvet, leather, terrazzo, and marble. From Standard King rooms to Terrace Sky Suites, each space is uniquely designed but unified by a sense of whimsy and warmth. And in true Standard fashion, there’s always an element of surprise—whether it’s a rounded minibar that feels like a space capsule or a bold custom art piece above the bed.

Social Spaces in Full Spectrum

From the jaw-dropping Sky Beach rooftop bar—the highest in Thailand—to the sultry indoor-outdoor Mott 32 Chinese restaurant and the glam Tease tea room, The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon delivers scene-stealing venues one after another. The pool terrace, wrapped in banana-leaf murals and oversized loungers, feels like a set piece from a psychedelic island dream. There’s also The Parlor, a hybrid living room and cultural salon hosting DJs, talks, and spontaneous encounters. Every space is built to provoke emotion, conversation, and delight in the unexpected.

DNA Hotels Verdict

A masterclass in experiential design and architectural spectacle, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon isn’t just a hotel—it’s a multidimensional mood board where geometry, texture, and color collide. For travelers who see hotels as destinations unto themselves, this one tops the charts—both figuratively and literally.
